We have just published a MARA Rating for an obesity treatment that has not yet completed Phase 3 trials.
The Phase 2 data answered one question clearly: can this drug produce greater weight loss than anything currently available? It can. A mean weight reduction of 24.2% at 48 weeks — well above what existing treatments achieve.
Payers must answer a different question: at what price, and is the cost per outcome gained within an acceptable range?
No cost-effectiveness analysis exists. No price has been set. No formal quality-of-life data was collected.
The clinical question is compelling. The access question remains entirely open.
