This week we finished a MARA Rating for a treatment for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis — a progressive lung disease with limited options.
The Phase 3 trial answered one question clearly: does this treatment slow the loss of lung function? It does. The difference versus placebo was significant and consistent.
There is a second question the evidence was expected to answer: do patients feel better?
The quality-of-life instruments showed no significant improvement. No cost data has been published.
Two questions. The lung function question was answered. The patient experience question was not.
